Spar launches new range of freshly-prepared convenience meals and snacks

| On the move

Instead of contemplating what’s for dinner (again), Spar now offers South Africans the perfect solution for hassle-free, hearty meals and snacks without compromising on nutrition.

The newly launched Fresh Convenience Range that’s available through the Food Stall at Spar, offers customers a variety of delicious meals and snacks they can simply heat, eat, and enjoy.

Pianca Meintjies, Spar Group Home Meal Replacement Manager, says the great tasting, freshly prepared range is aimed at customers on-the-go who are looking for highly authentic, quick, and easy eating experiences.

“Whether it’s a family dinner, a quick meal during your lunch break or tasty snacks to create platters when entertaining family or friends, The Food Stall at Spar’s Fresh Convenience Range marries quality, flavour and convenience, delivering delicious and nutritious food for any occasion.”

To ensure there’s something for everyone, the range features a wide variety of meals suited to different tastes. Along with mouth-watering pizzas and golden baked quiches, traditional family favourites such as lasagne, macaroni and cheese, and cottage pie, there’s also an assortment of single-serve and kiddie-sized ready meals.

The range is rounded off with an exciting selection of grab-and-go meals such as sandwiches, wraps, rolls and snacks.

“The Fresh Convenience Range has been carefully selected to include all the ‘must-haves to give customers tasty, traditional home-cooked meal options they would cook if they had the time,” explains Pianca.

“For those who are keen to try something new, our customers will love the delicious grab-and-go wraps that are packed with goodness. My personal favourite is the choice of snacks, as it makes entertaining friends and family a breeze.

“My guests are blown away by my platters of chipolatas, frikkadels, samoosas and sliders. No one would guess that you didn’t make these yourself!”

The new Fresh Convenience Range is a natural extension of The Food Stall’s offering at Spar as shoppers’ confidence in the quality of the food offered at the Group’s delis continues to increase.

Pianca says that extending this to the fresh convenience space will ensure that retailers continue to give their customers what they want in an environment they already know and love – their local Spar.

“To meet the demands of our hectic lifestyles, South Africans’ appetite for convenience food is on the rise. That’s why our traditional deli service counters have become the go-to for time-strapped customers. By introducing our ready-made meals, we are giving individuals and families even more variety when it comes to serving up great-tasting food,” she adds.

Not only are Spar shoppers guaranteed delectable ready-made meals, but the Group has also gone to great lengths to ensure their meals are always fresh.

“The turnaround times from the suppliers to our Distribution Centres to our stores are as short as possible and we will continue to improve our freshness related operating practices.

“Customers should know that when they shop from The Food Stall at Spar’s fresh convenience offering, they are guaranteed the same freshness and quality whether in Seapoint or Sandton, Mandini or Mandela Bay.”

Due to this freshness, the Group’s health-conscious customers are also guaranteed that they are dishing up the nutrition that they demand for their families.

Spar has conducted a full nutritional analysis on the entire range and the breakdown of the ingredients and their nutritional value as well as recommended heating instructions are featured on the packaging.

The Food Stall’s Fresh Convenience Range, launched at the beginning of September, is currently available at 253 Spar stores nationwide. More store activations are scheduled to take place as stores across the country add this exciting range to their customers’ existing eating experiences.
